  This is story about a mild-mannered, ex-janitor who turned to counterfeiting simply because it was the easiest say to "make" the little money he needed to keep up his modest way of life. Please scroll down to read the enlarged version:

 

 An aide to the chief of the Secret Service explained, "...the fact that Miuller was a small operator make him all the harder to catch. He was a nuisance, not because of the amount of money involved, but because he had persisted so long."

 

 A week before Miuller's arrest, an Associated Press item appeared in New York newspapers referring to the recent upsurge in counterfeiting. Secret Service Chief James J. Maloney commented that one of their biggest headaches was trying to capture the small-time operator in New York who manufactured and distributed one dollar bills.
